Planetari approached Langham Press to help produce Solent Seascape – Explore, Discover, Protect, an educational resource designed to encourage young people to explore and care for one of Britain's most important coastal landscapes.
Working alongside Planetari and its appointed design agency, the project combined specialist print production with careful planning to create a resource that was practical, durable and engaging for use in schools and educational events.

The Brief
The resource packs needed to do much more than communicate information.
They needed to encourage curiosity, support interactive learning and withstand repeated use by students and educators.
Alongside the creative ambition came a number of technical challenges, with multiple printed components, specialist finishing techniques and tight production timescales all forming part of the project.

Working closely with Planetari and the design team allowed us to explore different construction methods, paper stocks and finishing techniques before production began.
By developing prototypes and discussing practical considerations early, we were able to refine the specification while keeping the original creative vision firmly intact.
Throughout the project, every decision centred on creating the best possible educational resource without compromising quality or durability.

Bringing the Pack to Life
Although the finished resource feels intuitive to use, there was considerable technical expertise behind every component.
The project combined foil blocking, die cutting, perforating, creasing, precision hand assembly and concealed magnets to create an engaging learning experience that encouraged exploration through interaction.
Every individual element had to fit together accurately, not only visually but physically, ensuring the finished packs could withstand regular classroom use while delivering the experience Planetari had envisioned.

The Outcome
Completed in time for London Climate Action Week, the finished packs are now helping children and educators explore the Solent through hands-on activities and interactive learning.
